The Pacific Northwest Section AWWA Tapping Contest takes place at the Spring Conference in May of each year. The 2008 Spring Conference will be held in
Vancouver, WA. The event is a competition of speed, skill, strength, and teamwork. Pipe tapping involves hand drilling a hole in ductile iron pipe filled
with water under pressure, inserting a small threaded valve, and completing the tap with a connection to a copper service line. The teams work against the clock
completing a live tap of a 6-inch diameter ductile iron pipe. The tap must be completed without leaks and work must be safely performed without the use of power
tools. A four person tapping team includes a cranker, a feeder, a copper mechanic and a coach. The competition includes men and women's teams from
throughout the Pacific Northwest. The winning teams advance to the national competition. Enter now and return the completed form by April 15th.
